PCB protest T20 World Cup

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is exploring protest options linked to its participation in the T20 World Cup. The board is showing solidarity with Bangladesh amid concerns over the treatment of the Bangladesh cricket team.

Sources said PCB discussions focused on how to register protest while remaining active in the tournament. Officials and former players were consulted to weigh symbolic and competitive responses during Pakistan’s matches.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi reportedly emphasized that Bangladesh had been “abused” and should not be left alone. He voiced strong support for expressing solidarity with Bangladesh cricket fans during a recent PSL workshop.

Three protest options are under consideration. First, players could wear black armbands during T20 World Cup matches to show solidarity. Second, Pakistan could boycott the February 15 match against India, citing Indian behavior. Third, the team might dedicate every match victory to Bangladesh cricket supporters.

The final decision on Pakistan’s participation and any protest measures rests with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. A meeting between the prime minister and Mohsin Naqvi is expected to take place today.

Officials stressed that any move would balance Pakistan’s competitive interests with a strong message of solidarity. The board wants to show support while maintaining its focus on tournament performance.

The PCB’s deliberations reflect growing concerns about international cricket relations and the treatment of teams in global tournaments. The decision will be closely watched by fans, media, and cricket authorities worldwide.
